A native New Yorker, I grew up riding mass transit alongside, bankers, lawyers, successful advertising executives and secretaries. Many of these people owned cards, but it was easier to ride to work.
As gas prices exceed $4.00/ gallon, it may be time for Hoosiers to learn what the New Yorkers, and other big city dwellers have known for years - a well designed public transportation system benefits everyone in the public. Freeing the population from obsessing about gas prices, or the nearest parking lot.
