At a time when crime and high school graduation rates are critical issues in the news, a locally based, nationally recognized singer-songwriter, Diana Bush-Harris has created a program for students, defined “Where Music and Messages meet for a Positive Purpose!”
In May of 2007, Bush-Harris was contacted by Central Elementary of Beech Grove, Indiana asking her involvement to overcome the anxiety associated with I-Step Testing. Bush-Harris welcomed the challenge and wrote an inspiring song, complete with a stirring DVD presentation and program activities entitled, “Born to Succeed.” Her efforts assisted in the school’s “best I-Step scores in 10 years” according to their own accounts. Later in an unprecedented performance, she presented an all original 4-song performance designed for Park Tudor’s Lower Elementary, accommodating their request for “diversity appreciation.”
Bush-Harris is a strong advocate of character education and self esteem building.
“Our brain receives at least 2700 media messages per day, most of them are unconscious, and do very little to build us… I love what I do because it’s tailor-made, positive influence” explained Bush-Harris. Diana has also rendered inspiring performances at Orchard Ridge Elementary, Indianapolis Charter Schools, and Arsenal Tech High School all of Indianapolis. She has traveled to perform on the college level as far as Wisconsin.
Bush-Harris desires to connect with Indianapolis Public Schools and area township schools to present the program. “Locating a corporate sponsor who shares my desire to help our children and fund the program would be ideal. This program is strategically crafted to help facilitate the execution of educational progress. Injecting a positive attitude always improves your altitude” says Bush-Harris.
*Diana has received numerous local, regional and national recognition and awards.
*Nationally she is called “a gift of joy”.
*”A truly, Inspiring Voice” is how the Indianapolis Star described her. (March 2008 Faith & Values Section)
*VH-1 awarded her nationally: “Honorable Mention” for “Song of the Year” in 2004.
*The late Robert Turner called her, “A force to be reckoned with”.
*She has received numerous community recognitions in her hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana prior to moving to Indianapolis.
*Bush-Harris also writes and performs for plays, weddings, birthdays, honors program and other special occasions.
