The Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County, which meets at Christ United Methodist Church in Westfield will host workshops entitled “Senior University – Getting your House in Order”. Workshops will feature local experts sharing information every senior and their adult children should know. These workshops will be held at the Christ United Methodist Church at 318 North Union Street in Westfield on September 18, 2008, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and again, at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Expert Panel topics are:

• assessing your financial portfolio

• recording your personal property

• giving your Executor the tools they need

• planning your funeral arrangements

• legal expertise about Estate Planning and the Probate process

Moderated by Carlotta Katra, President of Aging Avenues, the casual but informative panel discussion will guide seniors and their adult children through this difficult maze of comprehensive life planning.

About the Expert Panelists:

Gary Bolenbaugh, Attorney at Law, is a graduate of Regent University School of Law and an active member of the Indiana State and Indianapolis Bar Associations.  He has been an attorney for 12 years and specializes in the areas of Estate Planning, Business Law and Residential Real Estate.  Gary also serves as an Adjunct Professor at two local universities and is an active member of his church and community.

LaTisha Egenolf, Financial Advisor with Wachovia Securities, is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® professional, or CRPC®. She helps with financial needs both before and during retirement. Rebecca W. Geyer, Attorney at Law, is chair of the Estate Planning and Elder Law practice groups at Gole & VanWinkle, PC.  Ms. Geyer is an Indiana certified estate planning and administration specialist.  She focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, elder law, tax planning, and business matters.

Cindy Hartman, President of Hartman Inventory, LLC, an established leader in the field of asset documentation, will give tips on how to create your personal property inventory. This information assists with financial and estate planning, plus maximizing insurance claims in the event of a disaster.

Carlotta Katra is a senior advocate.  She has spent many years working with seniors and their families in Assisted Living and Nursing Home admissions.  She knew the frustration families felt not having a specific place to go to find more information about aging issues, locate community resources and assistance.  That is why she developed AgingAvenues.com a new website that puts all that information in one place.  Currently the site only has resources for Indianapolis and the surrounding counties but she hopes to take it nationwide to help families everywhere.

Barb Milton, Vice President of Buchanan Group, Inc., is a nationally recognized speaker on final expense planning. She is a Certified Celebrant, Cremationist and Cemeterian. Her holistic approach provides a relaxed open forum for strategizing and organizing a family’s end of life decisions.

Val Steffen, Partner, My Will Power, LLC. Ms. Steffen will share her experiences as an Executor and give useful information about how you can empower your representative to act on your behalf after a catastrophic event.
