The Carmel Chamber will celebrate five businesses and a leading volunteer at its eighth annual Images of Excellence Awards Luncheon on December 10th at the Ritz Charles. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, October 10th. Applications for all awards are available on line at www.carmelchamber.com.
Each year, Applause, sponsored by Harrison & Moberly, recognizes a company that has demonstrated outstanding business success. Nominees demonstrate that success in the following areas: growth and stability; commitment to quality; creative/unique solutions to challenges; entrepreneurial spirit and overall contribution to the community. The Linder Company was the inaugural winner in 2001, followed by UN Communications, AMLI, NatureWorks+; The Glass Chimney; Vine & Branch and, in 2007, Brenwick Development.
The Chamber also presents two Look awards, one for new construction, and one for a renovation project. Nominees are judged on the quality of work, appropriateness of the construction to its surroundings and the contribution of the project with the overall look of the community.
The Look award for new construction is sponsored by Bose McKinney & Evans. The recipient in 2007 was The Lurie Gallery. The Look award for renovation is sponsored by Pedcor, and The Great Frame Up received the award last year. The Carmel Redevelopment Commission also sponsors both Look awards.
Carmel Green, a new award sponsored by Vine & Branch, will debut this year. The award will recognize a Carmel organization, company or association who is solving environmental challenges using innovative and green practices or by setting up creative partnerships to enhance the environment.
The selection committee for Carmel Green includes Christine Barton-Holmes, LEED AP from the Department of Community Services in Carmel; Frank Duck, Shiel Sexton; Lisa McKinney Goldner, Bose McKinney & Evans; Tom Harton, Editor, Indianapolis Business Journal; Judd Scott, Vine & Branch, and Scott Truex, Department of Urban Planning, Ball State University.
MV2, or the Most Valuable Volunteer Award will also be presented to a Carmel Chamber member who works full time but also makes a difference in the community through active volunteerism. MV2 is sponsored by The National Bank of Indianapolis.
The Chamber’s Civic Pride Committee is chaired by Alana Shane, Huntington Bank, and includes Ron Carter, Carmel City Council; Celest Mathews-Higgins, Old National Bank; Mike Hollibaugh, Carmel Department of Community Services; Nick Kestner, NK Rental; Diana Schmid, Irwin Union Bank; Joy Stafford, ReMax Ability Plus; Jeff Worrell, Advantage Medical and Mo Merhoff, Carmel Chamber.
