What: Celebrate the opening of Grand Boulevard phase one, the new east and west bound road that connects Guilford Road and Old Meridian between Main Street and Carmel Drive in Carmel. Public is encouraged to attend. Warm beverages and snacks will be provided by American Structurepoint.
When: Monday, December 8th at 2 p.m.
Where: Ceremony is under the white tent at the intersection of Grand Boulevard and Guilford Road. Event Parking – Please enter Grand Boulevard at the roundabout at Old Meridian Street for parking in the eastbound lane of the road.
Who: Mayor Jim Brainard, representatives from American Structurepoint and other local dignitaries.
Background: Phase one of Grand Boulevard is an east-west thoroughfare that connects Guilford Road to Old Meridian between Main Street and Carmel Drive in Carmel. This new transportation corridor features a two lane boulevard with a wide curbed median designed to enhance roadway safety while also providing an area to preserve mature trees that existed in the path of the roadway. The project also included storm sewer installation, curb and gutter, on-street parking, and parallel multi-use paths adjacent to the roadway. Future plans include Phase II of Grand Boulevard which will extend this new thoroughfare west and north to connect Old Meridian to Main St. just east of Pennsylvania Street.
