Carmel Arts & Design District entices with season-low pricing and on-site festivities
Carmel, Ind. – On Saturday, Dec. 13 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., shoppers can escape the mall crowds and explore a haven of unique holiday treasures. Art aficionados and gift-seekers alike will delight in discovering the myriad of retail options available in the heart of Old Town Carmel during the Carmel Arts & Design District’s Holiday Gallery Walk.
During this seasonal celebration, guests are welcomed to a District-wide open house during which galleries and merchants spotlight new original art, and treat shoppers to customized hors d’oeuvres and signature drinks that reflect the theme of each location’s unique event focus.
To celebrate the spirit of giving, patrons at Evan Lurie Gallery can bid in the gallery’s silent auction to benefit the Salvation Army, while enjoying works by Indiana artists Jason Myers, Jason Poteet and Jason Zickler. A percentage of sales from the event will also benefit the Salvation Army, and guests are encouraged to bring a toy to donate as well.
Deborah DeFazio Lyons will feature portrait painting demonstrations throughout the evening, in addition to special holiday prices and complimentary refreshments. Down the road, Blue Egg Gallery will feature a display by artist and calligrapher Erika Woods. Her “Sacred Words” pieces include originals, prints and cards perfect for inspiration and giving this holiday season. In addition, Blue Egg will extend its seasonal celebration beyond the Gallery Walk with activities all day long. Visitors can observe demonstrations by artist and calligrapher Erika Woods and R. Carol Skinner from 1 p.m. -3 p.m., and from 10 a.m. – noon, local artist and author Robyn Brown will sign copies of her Christmas book, The Most Unlikely Night, a story of the birth of Jesus from the angels’ perspective.
Artists Window Fine Art Gallery (part of the Carmel Gallery Collective) will help patrons cross items off their holiday shopping list with a show of small works of art priced for gift giving, including miniature oil paintings, etchings, pen and ink drawings and pastels.
Other District businesses and eateries have also planned special events and sales to coincide with the Gallery Walk. Artisan Masterpiece will offer shoppers $25 off a purchase of $100 or more, and $10 off any $50 purchase. Thirteen shops in the Carmel Old Town Antique Mall will offer 15 percent to 25 percent off of any purchase during all December events. And guests of Grosser & Co. can enjoy festive times during a holiday party at the studio from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. while enjoying 15 percent off all in-stock merchandise through Christmas and, as a special gift, free jewelry inspection and cleaning.
At The Great Frame Up, custom frames will be available for 20 percent off, and guests can enjoy complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and cookies.
Joy of Raphael will offer respite from the holiday stress with chair massages and warm spiced cider until 8:30 p.m. More indulgences are available at Simply Sweet Shoppe, including tastings of European sipping chocolate, truffles, tortes and other winter treats like peppermint or gingerbread lattes.
