INDIANAPOLIS – Rainmakers, Indiana’s fastest growing business association, announced the winners of its 6th annual Rainmaker of the Year Awards Tuesday evening at the Ritz Charles in Carmel. The presentations made by Rainmaker founder, Tony Scelzo and President Lorraine Ball recognized the contributions of members who consistently live the core values of the organization.
Jim Doering, President of Doering Consulting and a Rainmakers Vice President, was presented with the prestigious 2008 Rainmaker of the Year award.
“The selection process was extremely difficult this year with so many qualified candidates,” said Lorraine Ball. “Jim Doering emerged as our first choice because of his extreme dedication and all the work he has done for Bloomington and the Southside the past year.”
“As an organization we are richer because of Jim Doering’s contributions,” said organization founder, Tony Scelzo. “Because of his commitment to serving others in true Rainmaker style, he has been an inspiration to all of us. In addition he holds the record for the most new members signed at any one event. Even I can’t match his record.”
In addition to the annual Rainmaker of the Year Award, three additional awards, the Honorary Rainmaker of the Year, Rookie of the Year and a Lifetime Achievement Award were presented.
Pat Coyle, Smaller Indiana, who is not a member of Rainmakers, was honored with the 2008 Honorary Rainmaker of the Year Award, recognizing the contribution he has made to the local business community through his work developing www.smallerindiana.com.
Serina Kelly of Admin Advantage, who has been a member less than a year, was selected as 2008 Rookie of the Year Award by the Rainmakers chairs. Though new to the organization she has already taken on a leadership role as the chair of the southside lunch.
The Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Tim Roberts, a cornerstone of the organization. Tim has served in an advisory capacity almost from the beginning.
“Without Tim, it is very possible Rainmakers would not exist today” said Lorraine Ball. “Over the years we have come to value his wisdom, insight, enthusiasm, and his financial contributions when we needed it most. His commitment, support and belief in the organization pushed us to be extraordinary and we are so honored to have him as a Rainmaker.”
