They were recognized at the Indiana Cultural Tourism Conference and received $25,000 to continue the project A Visually Exciting Cultural and Retail Thread for Mass Ave. The honor will recognizes a cultural attraction for a highly creative, emerging cultural tourism initiative. The funding is targeted to support an organization with a budget less than $5 million dollars.
In 2008 IndyFringe partnered with Mass Ave to promote it as a unique destination during the month of August. In 2008 IndyFringe was awarded a $6800.00 Cultural Development grant to produce a visually exciting cultural and retail thread for Mass Ave. This concept culminated in the creation of color-to-area specific flags to help visitors identify elements of IndyFringe. The flags denoted galleries, theatres and retail outlets on Mass Ave. Thanks to the Efroymson award money IndyFringe will continue the thread with new flags to denote restaraunts and other signage needed to make the avenue more accessible for first time visitors. IndyFringe also recently partnered with Mass Ave botiques for a Spring Fashion show in the Fringe Building.
