(INDIANAPOLIS, IN. June 24, 2009)— As social networks grow online, more corporations are asking how they can harness this new tool as a way to promote internal communications among employees. The July Confluence networking event will cover some of the different ways corporations can use social networks for their employees.
Jeb Banner of Smallbox, will lead the presentation, “The Value and Creation of Internal Corporate Networks,” and show corporations how and why they can use internal networks for project management, internal communication, and even increase employee productivity. Banner was the technical editor for the Ning for Dummies book.
The event will be held on Tuesday, July 14 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, at the Blu Martini, 4705 E 96th St (96th & Gray Rd.). The cost is $20, which can be paid at the door, or online at IndyConfluence.com.
“Social media is becoming the wave of the future,” said Erik Deckers, new president of Confluence. “While some may believe it’s a time waster, the forward-thinking corporations are finding it to be a great way for employees to communicate with each other, to manage projects, and even to reduce the length and frequency of meetings.”
There are several free social network engines like Ning.com or Elgg.org. In fact, Confluence uses Ning for their www.USConfluence.com social network.
