(Wednesday, July 1, 2009) Accent On Business announced today that the company will participate in, and become a donation location for, the 2009 United Way campaign, “BackPack Attack”. Since 1999, BackPack Attack has collected more than 2.1 million school supplies for children in the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) as well as other schools in Marion, Boone, Hancock and Hendricks counties.
.
United Way’s goals for 2009 are to collect over 500,000 school supplies and give those supplies to 20,000 children before the start of the 2009 school year. The United Way sponsors this campaign for three reasons:
.
- 78% of the families in IPS can’t afford the basic school supplies that their children need.
- Students with inadequate supplies suffer an unnecessary struggle to keep up with peers.
- Many teachers spend their own money to purchase these supplies for students.
.
Accent On Business invites individuals and other companies to share in this campaign. Their office will accept donated school supplies from July 6th through August 7th, 2009. The address is 12400 N. Meridian in Carmel. School supplies being collected are backpacks, pencil sharpeners, spiral notebooks, erasers, calculators, rulers (12 inch), crayons (24 count), art boxes, scissors, markers, alarm clocks, ink pens, pencils, colored pencils, pocket folders, glue sticks, and notebook paper.
.
“One of our core values as a company is to be a good steward in the communities we serve. We care about families, and United Way’s campaign is a meaningful way for us to give back to these communities,” stated Ellen Dunnigan, President and CEO of Accent On Business.
