(Indianapolis, IN August 14, 2009) Local sculptor Andrew Ball will make his first appearance in the Indianapolis Art Center annual Open House exhibit this fall. Opening August 28th, the Indianapolis Art Center will feature the work of 4 local artists and students of the Indianapolis Art Center, including Ball. Ball will be displaying his art alongside artists Susan Downs, Pat Richardson and Lisa Vanmeter in a showcase of different mediums and talent.
The exhibit features new work by Ball including Juxtaposition and Connections. It begins its run on August 28th and continues through September 30th. The artists will be on hand for the preview and open house on September 11th from 6pm until 8pm.
“My style is best described as contemporary abstract,” said Ball. “While I approach each project with a plan, I enjoy allowing the process to guide the end result.”
During the open house pieces will be for sale. Admission to the Art Center is free and it is open Monday-Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday noon-6pm until August 30th and beginning on August 31st it is open on weekdays until 10pm.
About Andrew Ball: With degrees in anthropology, community planning and finance from the University of Texas, Ball works as a senior project manager for AT&T. Ball, 55, discovered his passion for metal sculpture after taking his first welding class at the Indianapolis Art Center 6 years ago. His work has been recognized with awards in student shows at the IAC and accepted for inclusion in the annual Rising Sun Juried Art Show.
