Integrated solution combines Intel’s Xeon 5500 processor family with VMware vCloud Technology for Compute as a Service optimization
(VMworld, San Francisco, CA – September 2, 2009) – Indianapolis-based BlueLock, provider of cloud computing and managed IT services, announces BlueLock vCloud Express offering. BlueLock was one of only three cloud computing hosting providers chosen in North America by VMware to provide VMware vCloud Express services which were recently launched at VMworld 2009.
BlueLock vCloud Express is designed to provide a low-cost easy access VMware based alternative to Amazon EC2. Virtual machines built in BlueLock vCloud Express are fully VMware compatible so they are easy to move into BlueLock’s Virtual Cloud Advanced and Enterprise platforms for those that need to add additional security, performance and availability, or into a private internal VMware cloud. The combination of the Intel® Xeon® 5500 “Nehalem” processor family and VMware vCloud software provides Bluelock a foundation from which they can create high virtual machine density, power efficiency and flexibility for optimum application performance.
BlueLock will be utilizing the Intel Xeon Processor 5500 (Nehalem) series that incorporates software and firmware capabilities that enable cloud providers to take better advantage of Intel multi-core processors and technologies.
“These are the fastest machines we’ve ever seen. The performance and energy efficiency of the Intel Xeon 5500 “Nehalem” processor family puts us in a strong position to deliver enterprise class services at the lowest TCO,” said Pat O’Day, Chief Technology Officer, BlueLock. “Intel and VMware worked together to develop numerous enhancements and optimizations specific designed for a virtualized environment and it clearly paid off.”
“End users are demanding infrastructure and SLAs from their service providers that are consistent with their own internal IT but at lower costs,” said Jason Waxman, General Manager, High Density Compute Division, Intel. “What is exciting to us is that the BlueLock vCloud Express service has leveraged the combination of the Intel Xeon 5500 “processor family and VMware’s vCloud software to deliver this kind ofTCO to their customers.”
