(INDIANAPOLIS, IN September 2, 2009 )—A new survey published by Linking Indiana shows social media use has increased dramatically among Indiana businesspeople. According to the survey, 94% of Hoosier businesspeople access social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter at least once per week and 72.6% visit social networks daily.
Most Hoosier businesspeople cite either Facebook or LinkedIn as their preferred social net-work, but do not use Facebook and LinkedIn for business.
“Facebook is being used for keeping up with friends, and LinkedIn is being used for finding jobs, customers and business opportunity,” said Linking Indiana founder and social media ex-pert Mike Seidle.
The survey also revealed that less than half of Hoosier businesspeople think their employers are effectively using social networks, and even fewer Hoosier businesses have blogs.
“The real surprise to me was just how few Hoosier businesses are using social media,” says Seidle. “Having a blog indicates you have established the hub of a corporate social media strategy.”
Linking Indiana is a social media group that helps people with a connection to Indiana find one another and is available on LinkedIn, Facebook, Plaxo, Twitter and FriendFeed.
Full survey results are available on the Linking Indiana website (http://linkingindiana.com).
