Carmel, IN – Popular Indy party band, Polka Boy, will perform at Merchants’ Square Octoberfest on October 10th from 6-9 p.m. Polka Boy is a 14-piece band that plays a variety of music from polka and waltz to classic rock. The concert will follow a day of free Octoberfest activities for the whole family taking place between noon and 6 p.m. A Halloween Costume contest for ages 5-10 starts at 1 p.m. Costumes will be judged for most creative, scariest, funniest, and best impersonation. Contestants must pre-register at Party Tree by October 8th. At 3 p.m., a pumpkin pie eating competition will feature teams from the Carmel Fire Department, Carmel Police Department, Carmel City Council, and Carmel Clay Schools who will compete for fastest pumpkin pie eating times. For kids ages 8-14, a pumpkin carving/decorating contest will take place. Contestants must pre register by October 8th at the Party Tree. Then bring your decorated pumpkin to the Party Tree between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on October 10th for judging. Winners of the pumpkin carving/decorating contest will be announced at 5 p.m. Grand prizes will be given away for most creative, scariest, best use of color, and most intricately carved. Polka Boy will begin at 6 p.m.
Merchants’ Square area retailers and restaurants will host sidewalk sales and food booths. German themed food, including bratwursts and beer, will be for sale during the celebration as well. Octoberfest will also feature a petting zoo, pony rides, face painters, a clown balloon artist, and a bounce house for kids to enjoy. A hands-on road construction exhibit as well as safety tips for driving the new Keystone Parkway interchanges will also be available.
