(INDIANAPOLIS, IN – December 4, 2009) – John Stone of Stone Realty, LLC has attained the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) designation. The certification will help area homeowners avoid foreclosure, and utilize “short sales” in the foreclosure process.
Short sales allow a distressed homeowner to repay their mortgage at the price that the home sells for, even if it is lower than what is owed on the property. With declining property values, this can save many people from foreclosure and even bankruptcy. “More and more lenders are willing to consider short sales because they are much less costly than foreclosures,” explained Stone.

The CDPE designation is offered through the Distressed Property Institute, which opened in January 2008.
