Indianapolis, IN: May 1, 2010 – Matthew A. Griffith, an Indianapolis attorney, entrepreneur and business coach announced today the opening of the Griffith Law Group, a new type of law firm which bucks tradition by charging a flat fee for legal services.
The Griffith Law Group practices value-based billing. Most law firms charge by the hour for their services, often resulting in high bills and lengthy legal processes. In value-based billing, when appropriate, the firm agrees with the client in advance to a flat fee representative of the anticipated value of the legal services.
“In the legal industry, there is a strongly entrenched prejudice in favor of hourly fees,” said Griffith. “We try to avoid hourly fees. Clients prefer to know in advance what the total fee will be, and our lawyers feel comfortable to focus on achieving good results for the client, rather than logging minutes and hours spent on each client matter.”
A partnership-based law service differs from traditional law services not only in the pay structure, but also in the attorney-client relationship. Attorneys and clients work together to find cost-effective solutions to legal issues. There is also a strong emphasis on preventative law.
“Traditionally, lawyers tell clients what to do or what needs to be done. Lawyers are often dictatorial in how they treat clients, without really listening to the clients’ real needs. We do things differently in this new firm,” Griffith explained.
The Griffith Law Group provides legal services to businesses, business owners and real estate professionals. The firm emphasizes client-centric and proactive solutions that are preventative in nature. Most of Griffith Law Group’s clients are small to medium-sized businesses and real estate-based companies.
The Griffith Law Group opened its first office on April 30, 2010, in the Indianapolis Business Incubator Center recently launched by Rainmakers Marketing Group, Inc., the Mid-West’s fastest growing business development and networking company.
