Indianapolis, IN – The Mind Trust, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit supporting education innovation and entrepreneurship, is pleased to announce it has hired Claire Fiddian-Green and Anne Shane.
Ms. Fiddian-Green – formerly Grants Officer for the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, a local foundation supporting health, the vitality of Indianapolis, and sustainable employment – joins The Mind Trust as its new President. David Harris will remain the organization’s Founder and CEO.
Ms. Shane – formerly Vice-President for BioCrossroads, Indiana’s leading initiative to grow the life sciences sector through workforce development, scientific collaborations and new business formation –joins The Mind Trust as its new Vice-President of Strategic Growth Initiatives.
As President, Ms. Fiddian-Green will work closely with the Founder and CEO to lead The Mind Trust and expand its influence in Indianapolis. As Vice-President of Strategic Growth Initiatives, Ms. Shane will lead The Mind Trust’s efforts to accelerate the growth of highly successful entrepreneurial education ventures in Indianapolis.
With a newly expanded team, The Mind Trust will increase its efforts to support education innovation and reform in Indianapolis. Over the next few years, The Mind Trust will “grow what works” by increasing investments in the most successful education ventures it brings to Indianapolis through its Venture Fund and its nationally-unique Education Entrepreneur Fellowship. In addition, the organization will lead efforts to improve the climate in Indianapolis for innovation so that we see dramatically improved student learning outcomes and college matriculation rates.

Prior to her role at the Fairbanks Foundation, Ms. Fiddian-Green worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at Eli Lilly & Company in Indianapolis and as a management consultant in the Boston, MA, area. She completed her MBA at Columbia University. In 2009, Ms. Fiddian-Green was one of 25 emerging young leaders selected to participate in the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series, a highly-competitive year-long program that aims to expand the ranks of community leadership by providing class members with the knowledge and incentive to confront the needs of central Indiana.
Before joining BioCrossroads, Ms. Shane served as a Community Development and Education Consultant to the Lilly Endowment, Inc. She also previously served as Chief of Staff under Indianapolis Mayor Steven Goldsmith. Ms. Shane is a board member of Develop Indy, a state trustee of Ivy Tech Community College and the former board chair of Teach for America-Indianapolis. She holds multiple additional leadership and advisory positions on the boards of other Indiana-based organizations, and was named one of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “Most Influential Women” in 1996 and 2008.
