Carmel, IN- The Carmel Police Department will be holding its annual Police Explorer Open House on Wednesday, October 13th at 7 p.m. It will take place in the training room of the Carmel Police Department, located Three Civic Square. The Carmel Police Department Explorer Program offers young adults the opportunity to learn about law enforcement and to gain insight on careers in this fascinating field.
“The Carmel Police Department Explorer Program helps young adults understand the field of law enforcement. It gives them the opportunity to explore what type of work they would encounter in this field and allows them to gain a broader knowledge of the realities behind police work. It is our hope that the program educates its members, and prompts a greater interest in police work,” said Carmel Police Chief Mike Fogarty.
The program is open to interested individuals between the ages of 14 and 20. Members of the Explorer Post meet at the Carmel Police Department on the second and fourth Monday each month at 7 p.m. from October to May. During each meeting, the program discusses a new aspect of police work through lecture, participant interaction and actual “hands-on” training. Even if you cannot attend the Open House, please feel free to attend any other meetings.
