La Porte, IN – Students across the state of Indiana are invited to participate in the 2010 Drug-Free Work Week Poster Contest managed by Drug-Free Hoosiers. The theme of the contest is “Let’s be drug-free: At home, at school, and at work!”
“This contest harnesses the power of children,” said Mary Wellnitz, program coordinator for Drug-Free Hoosiers. “By taking a stand on the importance of being drug-free, kids have a chance to influence not only their classmates, but also their parents and teachers.”
The contest is open to all Indiana students from kindergarten to grade 12. All posters must be 11”x17” with a blank half inch border. Paint, markers, crayons, pen and ink, or pencil may all be used.
One winner will be awarded in each of three age categories: elementary school, middle school, and high school. Posters will be judged on their artistry, creativity, originality, evidence of age-appropriate research on the topic, and ability to community a clear drug-free message. Three winners will be named by a panel, and the public is invited to vote on one “People’s Choice” winner. Each winner will receive a $25 gift card, and their posters will be displayed in workplaces throughout the state.
To enter, please visit http://www.facebook.com/drugfreehoosiers. All applicants must electronically submit a photo of their poster. Winning posters will be collected for display. Submissions are accepted October 21-November 15. People’s Choice voting will be held from November 16-November 23.
