The evening will start off with a beer social hour, highlighting the established Sun King Cream Ale and grilled bread infused with Artisano’s oils.
Sun King’s owner/brewer Clay Robinson said “Indiana beer week is a great week in Indiana and we are glad to be a part of a second annual event at Chef JJ’s because they always bring together wonderful people that seem to have the passion about the same things. It makes for a wonderful discussion!” Chef JJ ads that ”this dinner allows for us to showcase some of the great brewers and chefs in Indiana……we always love working with everyone and it gives the attendees a chance to get personal with each of the brewers and chefs, which is always a highlight of the evening.

Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary is proud to announce its support and title sponsorship for the upcoming “Remembered Light” exhibit at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center of Zionsville.
The exhibit, scheduled to open in June and running through April 2012, features 25 stained glass “windows” created by 13 artists from the shards of glass gathered by Fredrick Alexander McDonald (1908-2003) from those churches and synagogues in England, France and Germany that were destroyed during WWII. A U.S. Army Chaplain, he saw the tiny remnants as markers of war’s tragedy and hoped that one day they could serve as testament to the sacrifices made by so many. The shards and their stories – provided in a narrative that accompanies the windows – dramatize the hard-won liberty that Fred McDonald’s generation gave the rest of us.
“We believe it is important to be an active, supportive participant in our community,” says Jennifer Nelson Williams, president of Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary. “The theme of this exhibit touched our hearts, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”
SullivanMunce Cultural Center is located at 205-225 West Hawthorne Street in Zionsville, IN; just two blocks west of the brick Main Street. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please call 317.873.6862 or visit www.sullivanmunce.org for more information.

Indianapolis – A team of local artists, led by Andrew Ball, has constructed a colossal kaleidoscope. The finished piece measures more than 8 feet in length, making it the largest manually operated kaleidoscope in Indiana, and possibly in the United States.

The kaleidoscope was constructed from 55-gallon steel drums and acrylic mirrors. From start to finish, the project took more than 90 man hours to complete.

The piece was created for the Installation Nation Art Show, where local artists were challenged to create a piece of art contained within a 20-foot long metal shipping container. Each selected project was given a $750 grant to complete their piece.

“Last year when I looked at the long shipping containers of Installation Nation, it came to me that these would be perfect to house a giant kaleidoscope,” said Ball. “Why a giant kaleidoscope? Because I’d never seen one before. And ultimately, why not?”

Ball was joined on the project by local artists Matt Warren and Todd Bracik. The kaleidoscope can be viewed at the Installation Nation Art Show, Friday, June 4 from 6:00 pm to 1:00 a.m., and Saturday, June 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at 500 N. College Ave., Indianapolis. Admission is $8. For more information, please visit http://primarycolours.org/blog/2010/05/join-the-revolution/.

He enjoys working with recycled and repurposed materials giving new life, function and beauty to things others might not consider. Ball currently has pieces on display at the Indianapolis Art Center, Referral Institute of Indiana and the corporate office of Roundpeg, Inc. For more information, please visit http://www.aballstudio.com.

After the success of popular art hotel, 21C, Rowe and Mallon started researching the concept and put together curator programs for other hospitality groups. They developed an art program for The Intercontinental at Chicago O’Hare and were featured on The Today Show and popular publications like Forbes for their work. They hope to bring the concept to other Indianapolis area hotels, who want to make their guests’ stay more of an “experience.”

“Our objective is to enhance the art and design experience within specific industries; and the hospitality industry understands the need for marketing such experiences for their guests” said GK Rowe, partner of Q7, LLC, whose marketing and multimedia solutions company focuses on the niche of “experience design.”

All proceeds from this event (via cash bar, parking and a portion of any artwork sold) will benefit the organization Art for Beds. Art for Beds is an annual event that brings together artists from our community and businesses working together to raise funds in support of the health care provided by Gennesaret Free Clinics. Gennesaret Free Clinics provides vital health care services to homeless and working poor people in our community.

The event will be open to the public, but coordinators ask that guests RSVP by emailing art@editionsltd.com.

Q7 is a marketing and multimedia design group, providing creative solutions for organizations in various phases of their business. The force of their business is comprised of a compendium of specialists with a vision and mission to exceed the parameters of a typical design firm, by offering “experience design,” which focuses on human-centered experiences. By offering a magnitude of services, their specialists work collaboratively to form a cohesive concept and provide tailored solutions to meet the specific needs within any industry, on both a local and global scale.

Acclaimed as one of the oldest galleries in Indianapolis, Editions Limited Gallery was established in 1969 and is located in the heart of Broad Ripple, an Indianapolis Cultural District.

Indianapolis (Feb. 11, 2010) – The 1,600-seat concert hall currently under construction in Carmel has been named The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts, announced Executive Director, Steven Libman.

The name, determined by the Regional Performing Arts Center Foundation, was decided upon after much discussion and research, including the input of focus groups which were conducted with residents living in both Indianapolis and Carmel.

“Although a number of options were considered for the name of the concert hall, participants from the focus groups kept coming back to ‘The Palladium’ as the name of choice,” said Libman. “It was important to us to match the name with the architectural magnificence of the building’s design, so that the two are connected. The Palladium seems to speak to everyone because it is consistent with the concert hall’s size and spirit.”

The Palladium moniker already has a musical connection, courtesy of performance facilities in Dallas, TX, Hollywood, Calif., St. Petersburg, Fla., and London, England that bear the same name.

When The Hollywood Palladium opened its doors in October of 1940, legendary crooner Frank Sinatra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, were the first to grace its stage, performing what would become classic American hits. Coincidentally, many of these same tunes are now a part of the Great American Songbook Collection, which will be housed at The Palladium in Carmel, Ind.

And, by sheer coincidence, Michael Feinstein, Artistic Director of the Center for the Performing Arts, appeared at the London Palladium in November of 2009 to perform songs from the Collection.

“While the current venues that carry the Palladium name differ in style and types of performances they present, they are all renowned sites with strong traditions in musical excellence,” said Feinstein. “The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts intends to carry on this legacy, attracting a variety of top musical performers from around the world.”

The architectural design of The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts was inspired by a villa designed by Andrea Palladio. Built in the 1500′s near Vicenza, Italy, the villa, known as “La Rotunda,” remains an architectural icon nearly 500 years later. While not specifically named for the famed architect, The Palladium, nevertheless, represents an important homage to his work.

“We put a great deal of thought into the design of the concert hall, modeling it after Venetian architect Andrea Palladio’s Villa Rotunda, which allows the structure to be pleasing from all sides,” said Mayor of Carmel, Jim Brainard. “It also blends well with the European style of the other buildings under construction in City Center. It was very important that this unique structure also complement the city design already in place in Carmel. It was equally important for the name of the concert hall to complement its stature – a goal I truly believe we have accomplished.”

The Center for the Performing Arts, which is currently under construction in Carmel City Center, will include The Palladium, a 500-seat proscenium theater, a 200-seat studio theater and an outdoor amphitheater. Set for completion in January of 2011, no other concert hall of The Palladium’s caliber exists in the area. The Center is being built to serve as a permanent fixture on the Central Indiana landscape and will provide an extraordinary listening experience for audiences. The Palladium will also be home to Michael Feinstein’s Great American Songbook Collection, acting as a museum and education center by day and a concert venue by night.
