Carmel, IN – CompuChild announces it was ranked in the top 10 percent of all franchises nationwide and named a 2012 Military Friendly Franchise® by G.I. Jobs Magazine.

The technology education company honors military veterans and reservists all year round by offering service members (and their spouses) a discount of 20% off the initial franchise fee, allowing veterans to use their training and operational skills in a new civilian career. Besides the initial discount, CompuChild supports their military franchisees throughout their ownership by offering temporary suspension of royalties during the owner’s deployment and the ability for a military spouse to relocate their territory when the spouse is reassigned.

“The Military Friendly Franchises® list was created three years ago out of demand from military veterans, many of whom want to start or own their own business but are unclear where to begin,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs. “Being selected as a Military Friendly Franchise places CompuChild in this elite group, and is testimony to CompuChilds’s world class programs and policies that support military veterans interested franchise opportunities”.

Over 10% of CompuChild’s franchisees are either veterans or married to a veteran or reservist. In her role training new franchisees, Beryl Lucero travels to each new franchise location. This was a small challenge for the past 14 months as her husband, a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Marine Corps, has been serving in Afghanistan. “Since Beryl has children, she needed to find friends or family to watch her children while she was away for CompuChild business,” said Julie Standish, President and CEO of CompuChild. “Beryl made it clear from the beginning that she would make it work. And she did!” It is that can-do attitude that is appealing to franchisors.

In addition to the corporate office’s efforts to honor military veterans and reservists, the franchisees do their part as well. Many offer discounted class fees for children who have a parent deployed. Other franchisees have their students make and send cards to those serving overseas. “We are committed to helping military families and look forward to seeing more veterans become our franchisees and their children become our students,” said Standish.
