GREENWOOD, IN (July 18, 2012) – The Express Employment Professionals office in Greenwood is doing their part to help drop the state’s 8% unemployment rate for residents on the southside of the Indianapolis and Johnson County. So far in 2012, Express has placed over 650 associates to work in temporary, long-term, and direct hire positions that average an hourly pay of $12.50.
The Express Employment Professionals office in Greenwood has been in business for seven years this July. Owner Mike Heffner said that he began the business, along with his wife Kelly, to give himself and his employees the opportunity to make a difference in the community. “My goal was to be involved in the community as a business leader,” Heffner said. “So I started a franchise that would help people succeed and that would allow my wife and me to be involved with our church and with our kids’ school activities.”
Heffner states that the goal for him and his team is to reduce the unemployment rate for Indiana residents and help as many people as he can find great jobs with great clients! Heffner plans to help 500-600 additional people find employment before the end of year, totalling over 1200 associates that Express has placed in 2012. This number would be three times as many people placed in 2009 – when the recession began. “Our Express Indy South office will continue to hire quality associates and help the community by placing them in positions that are right for them,” Heffner said.
Over the years, Express has been the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Salute Award for Medium Businesses from the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce in 2012, which recognizes companies with growth and stability, commitment to quality, creative and unique solutions to challenges and entrepreneurial spirit. Additionally, Heffner’s franchise was honored by Express Headquarters as the 2011 Express Franchisee of the Year for excellence and achievements in sales, recruitment and placement. Heffner was chosen because of his dedication to the Express spirit, commitment to his clients and his strong marketing and sales efforts. Heffner said that the business will continue to prosper only with the help of a strong and motivated team.
One member of Heffner’s team, Erin Ricke, has also been a part of the company since its conception. She admires not only Heffner’s leadership within the company, but also the personal relationship he fosters with his employees. Ricke believes this is a primary reason that Express Indy South has reached such success in the past seven years. “I enjoyed taking on the learning challenge when I first started here. Mike was always there for me,” she said. “He helped me grow and succeed in this business. He is not only invested in me as a worker, but also as a person.”
Despite the fact that his business has already broken many records and reached milestones,Heffner continues to strive for excellence and has goals that he still wants to accomplish. He continues to see strong growth within the administrative and industrial fields, and is looking forward to expanding his business into the Professional Services sector.
The team from Express assists in placing associates into evaluation to hire, contract, direct hire and short term assignments in a variety of fields. These positions are generally administrative, professional services and light and skilled industrial. They look forward to doing their part to strengthen the economy and help put more great people to work!
