Lebanon, Ind. – With the assistance of Trinity Safety Group, the Lebanon Community School Corporation’s High School Building Trades Program became the first to require each student to successfully complete an OSHA Construction 10-Hour course prior to working on an active construction site. Their cooperation earned Lebanon Community School Corporation the prestigious 2013 Governor’s Workplace Safety Award for Partnerships.
Trinity Safety Group presented the 10-hour OSHA course to students in the Building Trades Program, concluding with a hands-on project tour to let students see workplace safety in action. All classes were taught by industry experts. This course gave the students the knowledge to work safely and the ability to recognize workplace hazards. The training is highly valued by employers, thus giving the students a competitive edge when seeking employment in the construction field beyond High School.
“Trinity Safety Group has displayed not only a passion for safety training, but a true commitment to preparing our next generation of workers for a productive and accident-free work experience,” said Dr. Robert L. Taylor, superintendent of schools for Lebanon Community Schools. “We have established an unprecedented partnership that will allow real-life applications for safety training to be to our students in all aspects of the vocational education curriculum.”
The Governor’s Workplace Safety Award recognizes organizations which have made reducing workplace illness and injury a top priority. It is awarded on behalf of Governor Pence, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. Only eight organizations are given the award each year.
